>>14453429>execs don’t care about viewersno console warring, I don’t understand how it’s a mystery that TV execs use ratings to evaluate the marketability of a program; if no one is watching, why would advertisers buy space for that show? wrestling in general has never drawn big advertisers, historically they have to point to ratings to justify why they’re worth their asking price. do smarks not understand that execs are only in it for cash and don’t care if a show has a die hard fanbase? shows like community, arrested development, or futurama were infamously cancelled despite having die hard, albeit smaller audiences and they had much higher ratings that even WWE has now. sure, the internet has changed things somewhat but WBD doesn’t give a shit about views on youtube unless it translates to their wallets and youtube has proven time and time again that it doesn’t. ratings are the only reasonably objective metric a fan can look to to form a reasonably objective opinion about the success of a tv show, even if you have to adjust for diminished audiences and if aew was getting millions of viewers a week they’d never stop about how great the rating is.
