Saya Kamitani was in the faction Io Skye started, Queen's Quest.
After the founder of Stardom Rossy Ogawa left and started Marigold, he had Io come to Japan and wrestle another former leader of QQ, Utami Hayashishita. He billed it as the "Queen of Queens" match and they both did their ring entrances with their old QQ masks on.
After that went down Stardom could not keep QQ going and had to bury it. Saya Kamitani was the leader at the time and lost a faction war match where all members of QQ besides her were eliminated and she was left as the sole remaining member.
It's not clear if their next intention was to have Saya join up with her rival Maika in ENexusV or if it was was a swerve from the beginning, but Saya betrayed Maika and turned heel.
Tam Nakano hard-carried Saya throughout her entire career and didn't seem too thrilled with the heel turn, and often mocked her makeup and her new new signature immature taunt where she sticks out her tongue. Tam would do promos where she would wrap a red ribbon around her neck, symbolizing Saya's tongue choking her, the ribbon always got longer and Tam would frantically cut away at it with scissors.
Nearly 100% of fans and pundits HATED when Saya turned heel and thought it was a terrible idea. Saya went on network tv shows and turned up the charm and became the current #1 most popular pro wrestler in Japan, and all the initial naysayers ended up hopping on her bandwagon.
