WWE is too overproduced for me, but they do an insanely good job with video packages and YouTube clips, so I can watch the important parts of the show without watching 5 hours of TV. Tony has this insistence on "telling stories in the ring", and his social media team is awful, so even though I sit through the shows anyway, its hard to share stuff with other people who aren't willing to invest 4+ hours so they can hop on the merry-go-round, so to speak
I don't even think Tony needs to give up the book, just chop down matches 3-5 minutes and add more live mic stuff. Because that's when you really show who thinks on their feet, who has charisma, etc. there's a reason YouTube/Twitch people with the most loyal following are those who Livestream - and the folks with the 100 jump-cuts per video seem to have a ceiling. People love those candid moments, the snide comments, the unexpected facial expressions - you don't get those with 30 second pretapes and scripted backstage confrontations
Tony is the man, I have no shame in saying that. But for Tony to really become THAT NIGGA, he has to embrace current pop culture. And that means letting people other than Starks, Jericho and MJF have a live mic. That one show where Hager got his purple hat (that Garcia rejected), that entire Dynamite was fire to me. The next week, they were back to long matches. The Dynamite where Samoa Joe opened the show with a promo drew a monster 1st quarter rating, much higher than usual...that's for a reason! Let more wrestlers do that, and we'll be getting somewhere.
