Calling him gay is just a way for them to shift their own insecurities on to him and justify their hatred. It's classic projection, a term that's overused here generally.
On a related note, the reason they hate AEW and AEW fans, is because it holds up a mirror to their faces. They see people living normal lives having moved on from e-slop, something which they cannot do and will never be able to do. In this regard, they are no different than any other addict. It's just self-loathing turned outward.
