The latter is self explanatory, but somehow the cynicism found its way to some of the marks when they started booing near the end.

And let's not get it twisted: asides from tonight, a MAJORITY of the booking for WWE has been garbage this past year. Iyo and Rhea queerbaiting, Rhea still shoved down your throats, Kairi and Asuka doing some cringey heel work, Giulia being utterly fucking buried in a dogshit title change match, LA Knight being passed over left and right, the swerve of Seth faking his injury only for it to be a shoot situation a few months later and causing a hard pivot no one in The Vision was ready for, Otis' fumbling, Dom being a meme heel, R-Truth instantly reverting to Coon-Truth when he got hired back, Cena's entire retirement run, I could go on and on... it comes to a point where the smarks became marks for their own cynicism and way of thinking that they just bash any change they don't like, even ones that seem "sensible". For example: Ilja winning the US title upon return. Stuff like this happened many times in wrestling where a returner gets a belt...
