In Mexico there are around 10 to 15 lucha libre shows daily, Arena Mexico sells 45,000 tickets every week, Mexico is the country with the most lucha shows and tradition since a century ago, and almost no mexican likes or is really interested in lucha libre.
WWE's numbers are impressive because they attract a mindless mass of people who aren't even interested in wrestling itself, but are interested in Logan Paul, Bad Bunny, Travis Scott, or even Donald Trump. The majority of WWE's audience is merely casual and doesn't know or care to know anything about wrestling.
And why am I bringing up WWE out of nowhere? Because the WWE world is so big that it belongs to a different realm of entertainment, one that surpasses even the total number of wrestling fans worldwide, which is actually quite small. And in Mexico, as incredible as it may seem, lucha libre is also a very small niche, although internationally one thing is immediately related to the other and is part of the country's cultural identity. Lucha libre is currently experiencing a surge in popularity in Mexico again, but it's nowhere near what it once was. And hardly any Mexicans actually like lucha libre. This is sad, but true. If 7 out of 10 mexicans like soccer, lucha libre is liked by at most 1.
