>>10124291Meltzer says there were WWF officials upset with WCW for having Sid Vicious
do The Millennium Man gimmick when everyone knew the WWF had already used
the term for Jericho's debut.
At Nitro, a lot of wrestlers went to the production truck to watch Jericho's
debut. Producer, Annette Yothers, who is said to be becoming less and less
popular in the locker room, upset the wrestlers when she either "rudely
refused" to let them turn up the volume on the monitor or she turned it
down. Don "The Jackyl" Callis said the following in his Winnipeg Sun column:
"Of course, Chris Jericho debuted on Raw and in three minutes proved what
everyone except WCW management knew all along. What a mistake letting him
go. WOW. Meanwhile, backstage at Nitro during Jericho's interview, 75% of th
e talent was huddled around the monitor which carries RAW watching Chris'
Y2J promo and popping like ten year old marks, before WCW production crew
turned off the sound."
Jericho's WCW debut has been interpereted by many WCW wrestlers as a message
by the WWF that if you choose to leave WCW and join the WWF, the WWF will do
its best to elevate you to main event status. Some talented mid-cards are
regretting not jumping to the WWF when they had the chance.
