There weren't any good contenders to end the streak for two reasons:
1. WCW hadn't built up anybody new, so you wouldn't get a new main eventer out of it
2. Due to the nature of the businness at that time, you couldn't just vanish the monster after he served his purpose. Regardless of who beat him, you'd be left with a Goldberg with a mermed mystic

Have nwo interfere in the match, and both pair up to fight them off.

you cant go anywhere with it though. goldberg just looks inferior and now has to work in the upper midcard or some shit while ddp has the belt. there's no storyline coming out of it. wwf always kept things rolling with austin trying to get his belt back. wcw initially did that after the fingerpoke, where goldberg wanted revenge, but they went nowhere with it, and for some reason ric flair ended up as champion

Goldberg should have held it for a while longer until people wanted to see a hot face win it from him. DDP would have worked, but maybe someone else.

Then after that you can have NWO reunite, give the title to Hogan and have Goldberg run through them for one last time before beating Hogan clean in a big PPV.

Who was supposedly injured? Goldberg, Hogan and Nash all worked actively at least until the summer but they had Flair win the title in March while Goldberg feuded with Bigelow. Absolutely retarded.

Why would he be taking out the nwo when they had nothing to do with his match vs DDP? He lost clean. And Booker wasnt ready in 1998. They had a million big name main eventers ahead of him in the pecking order

I seem to recall Goldberg being away from the company for the earlier part of ‘99 after his feud with Bam Bam and Hall.
Hogan was working as a tweener against flair.
Flair was worried about putting over David.
Nash feuding with Rey was dimes though.
The whole thing was weird.
