Meltzer was checked out of wrestling at Kurt's peak and was more interested in UFC and Pride, all his wrestling ratings skewed much lower than they did today, but relatively speaking, he overrated the fuck out of Kurt, Edge, Benoit, etc in the RA era and considered Paul Heyman a genius booker for pushing those guys in 2002-2003. Then Kurt went to TNA while Meltzer was basically fully UFC pilled. The era of Meltzer inflating his star ratings began when Gedo started booking NJPW in the 2010s, by today's standards Kurt Angle would have a dozen 5 star matches in WON and so would Benoit, Eddie, Rey, Edge, etc. because that's the shit Meltzer always liked
