>>10188742That's not what I said at all. This has nothing to do with feeling about particular promotions, and everything to do with historical fact.
It's really very simple: once the WWWF rejoined the NWA in 1971, it recognized the NWA World Heavyweight Champion and ceased promotion it's own heavyweight championship as a "world" title. After the WWF withdrew from the NWA for good in 1983, it began claiming world championship status for its championship again. But to claim that it was really a world title in the interim, when the promotion itself did not do so at the time, would be revisionist history.
Here's a breakdown of the timeline for you:
-1953: Capitol Wrestling Corporation established by Jess McMahon as a territory of the NWA.
-1954: Jess McMahon dies. Vincent J. McMahon (Vince Sr.) takes over.
-1963: "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers loses NWA World Heavyweight Championship to Lou Thesz. Vince Sr. and promoter "Toots" Mondt (who had Rogers under contract) opt to withdraw from NWA. CWC begins operating as the World Wide Wrestling Federation, with Rogers as inaugural champion.
-1971: WWWF returns to the NWA and recognizes current NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Dory Funk Jr. WWWF World Heavyweight Championship (now held by Pedro Morales) renamed WWWF Heavyweight Championship.
-1979: WWWF rebranded as World Wrestling Federation (WWF).
-1982: VKM's Titan Sports acquires CWC and WWF from Vince Sr.
-1983: WWF withdraws from NWA. WWF Heavyweight Championship, held by the Iron Sheik, becomes WWF World Heavyweight Championship.
