>>10192976Thanks anon. I really like seeing that there's interest for lucha libre in this board so I'd like to share as much as I can.
>Lucha historyUnfortunately lucha history is not easily accessible even for Spanish speakers. Most of the matches of legendary wrestlers such as Santo, Gory Guerrero, Blue Demon and Cavernario are lost to time because they were never televised. Most of what we know about Santo's wrestling style comes from his movies and newspaper descriptions.
>culture The equivalent of faces and heels in lucha are Técnicos and Rudos respectively, but unlike faces and heels who derive their difference from character work the difference in lucha comes from ring style, Técnicos are technicians, high flyers and play by the rules and Rudos are Brawlers, Powerhouses and constantly use illegal moves. Back in the day it was common for rudos to win a match by "Exceso de rudeza" which is something akin to excess violence so the referee would grant the rudo a victory to defend the técnico.
About three vs three matches. I've seen a lot of confusion in gringos and casual fans on how this type of match works in Mexico. The rules are officially called "relevos australianos" and each team has a captain. To win the match or a fall you need to pin the Captain of the team or pin the two other members.
