honestly, no. for the same reason Hogan wasn’t over after a certain point in the 90s and had to go hollywood. I think there were cultural factors at play that made certain gimmicks work at the time. i am a zoomer, so i don’t know how true this rings but there seems to be an idea that Austin embodied the disgruntled workers of the time and whooped mcmahon’s ass the way they wish they could stomp their boss. Austin also just fit the late 90s/early 2000s as it seems America itself was having an attitude era. look at how hip hop had gotten more gangsta slowly through the 80s, peaked with the gangsta violence and swearing in the late 80s and by the time you got to the late 90s, you had Eminem rapping about gore, rape, and drug abuse. Look at how Sega made Sonic compete with Mario by making him have an “attitude” the happy plumber didn’t. I bet people here can recall their parents hating x wrestler or crash or x video game or TV character from then because of how they acted. It’s a different era now Austin would still do good work, but i don’t think he’d blow up like back then.
