i wasn't going to lie much or pretend when I got into dating apps so I was my honest self, trying to not be cringe and self-deprecating and "heh i'm not like the other boys with their checklists and rules they learned from 4chan". I didn't get a ton of matches but I had more than I would have thought, and even met up with a girl. Nothing ever came from it and I friendzoned myself because I don't have any experience and don't know what I'm doing + being too incel, but it was nice validation at the time. I was pretty blackpilled before this. I think my looks and fashion might have helped, but so did my profile and what I wrote, how it was presented. It attracted the exact kind of people I was hoping to find. The person I met up with had to move away once lockdown started and we kept contact for a while before it eventually dropped. Anyway, I deleted it all and haven't tried since but maybe I will again when I have the confidence/desire/mindset and willing to tolerate the largely awful experience and the feelings it brings

It's important on dating apps because women are hyper selective since men outnumber them 5 to 1.
In real life, it doesn't matter at all. You could look like quasimodo and easily get laid. It all comes down to genuine unironic charisma/game.
