There's also the problem of hearing more modern pop culture jokes in MST3k (one of the first jokes in the reboot was a Beyonce reference). Part of MST3Ks charm is that it was written by a bunch of nice upper Midwestern types in the 90s and when you get too far away from that time and place...well it just doesn't work IMO.
