Yes, you have to admit the coked up and roided up promos of the 70s, 80s and 90s are better than what we get today. Some skinny nerd or some midget going on about how they're the best wrestler ever because they can do lots of rotations before a move or they can kip up or slap their leg, or its a generic "I'm so glad to be here" babyface promo or its this "I. am. talking. slow. and. slightly. loud. to. make. this. seem. more. intense." heel promo, or its just some worked shoot bullshit, which is a lot of AEW's.
Compare that to the intensity of these two and how it gets you hyped and keeps you engaged:

And I know peoples argument for anti-steroids is how many wrestlers died young in the 2000s and compare that to the lack of dead young wrestlers in the 2010s but if you look at the reports it was never due to steroids or coke its always pain pills, usually mixed with alcohol. When pain pills were introduced to wrestling in the early 90s, thats when everything got fucked. Its why all the young dead wrestlers in the 2000s were all prominent wrestlers in the 90s and 2000s, when pain pills, especially somas were rife in the locker room. Thats what caused all the deaths. All the wrestlers in the 70s and 80s who were all roided up weren't dying left and right, some did, sure, but most survived and some are still alive now. The majority that did die, only died in the past 10 years in their 70s and 80s, and their reports is shit like cancer, old age etc. Not complications from roids.
And then theres the Benoit case which was initially reported and still believed today as roid rage but it was actually from being hit in the head too much.
