They’re in this position because AEW exists. AEW exists because Meij allowed Kenny to leave. If he’d kept him the bucks would’ve fallen in line and cody would’ve gone straight back to wwe instead of starting up a new company all on his own. Harold Meij absolutely created AEW with his actions and will be an important character in wresting history due to his sheer incompetence.

NJPW's main concern is to retain their main Japanese guys and make sure they don't pull a Muto and try to prop up a rival promotion in Japan. The gaijin aren't of as much interest, especially not a tag team like Aussie Open. If NJPW thought they were keeping Ospreay things might be different.

Correct, but Kenny was always gonna go. By the time he left, he was mad at New Japan not for paying him more to stay, but for not allowing him to go "double". Now we have the double contract he dreamed of, where he shows up in New Japan once a year to get someone else to job to him.
