To their credit, the character got over pretty big even though he was treated as a silent masked guy who showed up out of the blue. Frankie Kazarian initially was the guy behind the mask before they switched to Christopher Daniels, the later of which was subject to a storyline where they had various heels accuse Daniels of being Suicide all along, only for Kazarian to return to the role.
After that, they got some Japanese wrestler to be Suicide, did a fake-out where Hogan donned the suit for a run-in, before settling on the "reveal" that Suicide was Austin Aries "all along". They then retired Suicide for a couple of years before bringing him back with a bunch of different guys (most notably Jonathon Gresham) under the mask before retiring the character again.
