In fact you can't even go to try and make the summit unless you've already climbed a mountain in Nepal higher than 6500m and have been certified in 20 different ways. Plus the hundred grand it would cost.
I don't think people inexperienced with this realise how stupid the idea of "oh I'm an amateur who is going to climb to Everest summit" really is. I can't think of a good analogy.
Maybe something like a complete amateur hunter who has never fired a gun or hunted is going to hunt Grizzlies in the Rockies. No, you're not mate, you're going to die. Or you're going on a guided safari expedition in a nature reserve.
