Through the NIL program, WWE is increasingly recruiting their top new talent right out of college and training them from scratch. If anything being an indy shitter is a huge negative for WWE, except for the very top indy stars. And who can blame WWE: Indy wrestling is SHIT.

I don't watch indies anymore, but unless AEW just sucks at picking who to feature, the systems in place that created anomalies like Punk, Joe, Danielson, Black (Rollins) and Moxley just aren't there anymore.
Each batch on NXT guys seem to be getting worse and worse, so WWE hasn't perfected the formula yet either.
But it makes since you don't want to pick up a bunch undersized guys with bad habits.

Indies used to have a lot of talent back then but currently? WWE and AEW basically took all the good wrestlers and whats left is shit like GCW and Effy's gay mafia. I dont blame WWE for moving on

People are just as good if not better today, if anything it's wwe, aew and other companies that aren't doing a good job with them. La knight is an indie shitter, if he was in the late 90s he would be a megastar in those days, while doing the exact same thing he does now

The new path for an indy shitter is to appear on AEW. That's not a slight against AEW either. AEW gets them TV time and experience. Then when they're ready they can join NXT.

No clue, I mostly watch older wrestling. All my favs are dead or retired.
