The whole “casual fan” argument is stupid. They don’t need to and shouldn’t appeal to people who already dislike wrestling. AEW just needs to not be a big budget PWG. this. people will naturally be interested in it if it's on primetime tv and it's good, which it hasn't been lately. audiences are more fragmented than ever and short of finding a bad bunny tier celebrity to wrestle, there's no real provable way for a 2nd tier company to chase "casual fans" which is a trap AEW is already falling into with all the 2000 WCW tier booking and trying to push britt baker as a reality television star. first they should start being better and get back the viewers they lost

Casual fan means people who aren't obsessive lunatics who watch every show. Casual means people who will watch something but it isn't the central point of their life.
I watch wrestling casually. If I miss an episode I miss an episode, I don't care.
Almost every human being is like this. The subhumans who base their life around watching a wrestling show are a very small minority. If you want to maintain an audience you need to be able to provide a product that sane people want to watch, sane people being casual viewers. If you want nobody to watch except mentally deranged people and run yourself out of business then by all means keep making bad TV shows until you go out of business.

Smark and casual are meaningless terms that if they ever had a purpose was probably 40+ years ago.
That said there are plenty things AEW can do to make their product more appealing without running off their loyal, high paying fanbase. It would just mean Tony has to act like a boss and not a friend, and the roster will have to treat AEW like a job and not fun time with their friends.

The company won't grow if the audience for wrestling doesn't grow. Today's audience is made up of the dregs of the fanbase from 10-20 years ago who didn't move on to MMA.
The audience won't grow if it's made up of dysgenic losers whose kids will hate them and rebel against what they like. When Harolds die out, E gets shut down. When the trannies hang themselves, so does AEW. Incestuously appealing to your base over and over is a negative sum game.
"Yummy everything-flavored" pro wrestling has had four years to catch on and it just isn't successful. Meltzer should be shot on sight.

You don't even know what you are talking about. TNA got more and more viewers the more old recognizable faces they brought in and the more Jerry Springer Vince Russo style shit they did, they went from being a podunk Jeff Jarrett vanity project to an actual talked about wrestling show with ratings getting higher and higher every single week and the entire time they were doing that fat retard smarks like you were there saying "Omg push Samoa Joe ppl don't care about Steiner and Nash anymore! Fire Russo!". They got like 2 millions viewers when they brought in Hogan and RVD. Ultimately what killed them was that they never learned from WCW mistakes and butthurt Bischoff moved TNA to Monday nights to compete against RAW completely killing their momentum.

Much like talent are using moneymark tony now but in his case its way worse as he has a *way* bigger pocketbook.
At least dixie got to fuck wrestlers on the deal. I don't think Tony could calm his autism enough to get fucked by talent.
Having said all that, Impact is the best weekly wrestling show that exists right now and its not even close.
WWE and AEW are absolute abortions in comparison.

That doesn't matter. People know scripted TV shows and movies are fake but they still get deeply invested in them. For example everybody knew Game of Thrones was fake but it was stupidly popular. The problem is that the writing, acting, and storytelling in pro wrestling is so fucking awful that normies are unable to form an emotional connection to it. All the /pw/ cool kids make fun of capeshit but at least capeshit tells stories that normal people actually want to see. Wresting is worse than capeshit. It's worse than Big Bang Theory. It's worse than Family Guy. It's worse than Generic Reality Show #954965046 and Generic Family Sitcom #92731823234. That's why it's so goddamn unpopular. And it can be popular again but only if it has professional writers working their asses off to make it must-see TV on par with peak GoT or The Walking Dead. But that won't happen in WWE and it sure as shit won't happen in AEW. Somebody with money and a fucking clue needs to start a new promotion. That's the only way another boom period can happen.
