They can literally make up whatever they want. Even if the formally merge the two into a single title (literal title, not the belt representing it) they can maintain separate lineages for the next decade of they want.
I'll admit they're only doing it this way for Roman. Once he loses they'll quietly drop the "Undisputed" from the name and go with a single lineage. They should use the WWE Title but they are retarded enough to use the Universal.

One title with two lineages that are still recognized separately. It's illogical but it's what they're doing. They're unified but WWE is still tracking both lineages for the sake of 1k days.

They've already done this. In 2013, Cena and Orton unified the belts to make the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Then when Brock beat Cena, they became one belt. Then a year later, they did the brand split, introduced the Universal Championship and randomly one day on SmackDown, it was just called the WWE Championship again.

Eventually, they'll drop "undisputed Universal" from it and just go back to calling it the WWE Championship. Then a few years later when they need to heat up a show, they'll merge the WWE and WHC again, and the whole thing starts all over.

He doesn't defend them separately so that can't happen. One belt with two lineages is what they're doing. It's not a traditional unification but there's no reason they CANT do it this way.
I've admitted they're only doing this way to pretend Roman has been WWE Champ for as long as he has. I'll be surprised if they don't formally drop the two separate lineages after he loses.

They are unified into a single title. The single title still respects and recognizes both lineages. At the present moment one title has not been merged into the other, nor have they created a new title. Unified titles keeping their separate histories, now defended as one title.
Wrestling has no gay rulebook saying you need to handle unifications a certain way. It's fake ans gay and they can make up whatever bullshit they want.

Fuck none for all I know they might clarify Friday that he's only continuing one lineage. Until they formally announce it or update their website (which is always their "source of truth") we have two lineages. There's 4 options right now:
>1. Continue two separate lineages after Roman, effectively giving everyone who holds it "two" title reigns.
>2. Remove "Undisputed" and drop the Universal lineage and continue with WWE.
>3. Remove "Undisputed" and drop the WWE lineage and continue with Universal.
>4. Start a new lineage for a "new" title starting with Roman
