Angle was booked as a fucking weak dweeb instead of a credible champ in the run-up
Shouldve been booked as Angle is the real deal too depite being a bad guy. He gives up a lot of strength and size and weight and power compared to Lesnar, but he has more experence and arguably better technique.
Instead Vince booked it the Vince way, which s to make Angle a joke. And Lesnar as a babyface which was all wrong, Lesnar got over by being a monster heel. Suddenly he's the good guy. He's not a babyface, never was. Of course Lesnar was going over.
Vince booked the whole thing wrong, start to finish, inside out.
Gaytch-Booker wasn't exciting enough either, you knew it was gonna be a slow Gaytch match, and the babyface wasnt over or credible enough for the fans to invest in it.
Vince-Hogan had the most compellng story of the 4 'co-man events' going into it, but it was like a 50 year old vs a 58 year old non wrestler. It ended up being a decent bloody brawl, but fans couldnt have had confidence in that gong into it. Plus even the most compellng story was sanitized and Vince-ified by his awful creative into somethign very milquetoast.
Literally the only real compelling match was Jericho-HBK because it was HBK's WrestleMAnia return match. But it was deep in the midcard, for nothing (no belt), and HBK was never a mainstream draw anyway, so while it might have drawn the most established fans to it, t brought no nomires because they never cared about HBK and were already tuned out of wrestling by that point.
Basicaly, Vince is a shitter and deliberately made WWE shit once WCW fell.
