>>10398282He doesn’t really have a gimmick, more or less, he’s a roughneck New YAWker who idolizes Japanese wrestling because that interest saved him and kept him out of jail and gangs when he was younger since he spent that time being a wrestle autist instead.
He’s a great promo which means his single strongest attribute probably won’t translate well in Japan. This probably won’t matter much since he’s pretty much a historian for Japanese wrestling and he’ll probably get a pop just for saying nostalgic names. Fortunately most of what he says will be in translated backstage interviews. Maybe he’ll get a post main event in ring promo, I don’t know and aren’t counting on it.
He’s capable in the ring. He’s a brawling type performer that typically uses the moves from other Japanese performers in his moveset. His striking needs work (see: his chops) but he can still put on a good match.
He’s typically booked as a midcarder-upper midcarder when he shows up but he hasn’t been booked all that competently and doesn’t show up too often (thanks Tony).
Boomer Japs and Dad Jap wrestlers love him because he’s an American wrestler who knows their history, respects who they are, and can advocate for their skill to American audience in his promos and expressions/actions.
