Technically speaking, Bret is quite possibly the best wrestler ever. Everything was so sharp and made sense. He was also a mark and even though he was great, he was weirdly boring at times. Like I'd rather see prime Goldberg vs prime Brock than Bret vs anyone really

What the fuck? Bret had excellent presence, a great look and he even carried "raped bitch" Kevin Nash into good matches. He pretty much created what it means to tell a story with your ring work

reminder Bret's WCW run seems worse than it was because he was coming off of such a hot run with his last year in the WWF (1997 which might be the best year of his career) and his 1998 in WCW was noticeably worse in every way.
also the quality of WCW as a whole started declining in 1998 as well. WCW in 1998 was nowhere near as good as it was in 1997. they were throwing shit at the wall at that point.
