Austin 97-99 was absolutely white hot. I’m rewatching episode by episode it for the first time since I saw it live as a kid and I forgot how fucking over he was. It was a slow build but once it kicked off (just before Survivor Series 97, when Slaughter became Commissioner) it was off to the races.

I love Shawn and Bret, but you can't honest to God say that. Neither of them are on Austin and Hogan's level. Neither Bret nor Shawn got the same type of pops Austin got.

HBK & Bret were never shoved down people's throats as much as Stone Cold and the others, sure Hogan and Stone Cold were over and made millions of dollars, but I feel like '93-95 WWF & WCW is more cozy without them.
