>>10438493There are two things I find equally destructive as far as western wrestling is concerned.
The first is the rise of women being pushed as equally important stars on male dominated promotions and trying to make what is essentially a sideshow division into a main attraction because of “Equality”. The result is feud, story, and character progression being brought down across the board as time that could’ve been used to help build rising male acts and feuds are now given to women. If people really cared that much about Women’s wrestling, they would invest in and watch existing Women promotions instead of cry for major promotions to include them more. The result in all of this are blander and less interesting feuds from both men and women as focus remains divided.
The second is that this isn’t an industry which many are passionate about any more. Many see pro wrestling as nothing more than a stepping stone towards greater celebrity, most notably Hollywood. Most stars have one foot out the door at all times. There is little cultural value towards this. This is on top of promotions being absolutely terrified of creating anyone who could be bigger than the company itself.
