I guess it's the biggest example of it. But it's redundant to a lot of what was going on in the indies. Just they got to rely on low expectations and being incredibly over, instead of athleticism and innovation.
But even in WWE, Punk pretty regularly kicked out of people's finishers on B-shows.

Sid and Lex Luger kicked out of the atomic legdrop
goldberg kicked out of THREE Atomic Leg Drops in a row, the camera didn't even catch the third one or the kickout, and all 3 of the commentators ignored and no-sold it. what should have been a huge moment was shit because of wcw incompetence.

probably the most overrated american match or more likely the most overrated WWE match ever.
seems like wwe fans always favor and overrate wrestlemania matches compared to everything else.
if this match (and the rematch) took place on any other type of event it wouldn't get anywhere near this amount of acclaim and attention.
