you’re right though. i’m a zoomer. grew up being told WCW blew it and TNA blew it so there would never be another monday night wars. WCW became mythical the idea that something could challenge WWE was insane, such a world that just existed 2 decades prior felt like something from a fantasy world. Coke had pepsi, Mcdonalds had burger king, Nintendo had sony and microsoft, but the E stood unopposed. Then AEW comes, it’s insane, something out of a dream. A company built on alternatives and the rejected, just like hip hop or grunge or other cultural movements when the rejected rise up and become cool. maybe those analogies don’t quite fit, but the truth remains. I was told the monday night wars would never happen in my lifetime, and if Tony blows this that’ll be true.
