Always felt he was kind of overrated but his longevity probably won't be seen again. He's been at ages 50, 60, 70 with more energy and passion than 95% of all wrestlers today.

Overrated?, yes, bad?, not at all, his repertoire in the ring is lackluster, always has been, but he was great when it came to read and provoke a crowd, he was fantastic when it came to ring psychology, charisma and promos.

I wouldn't put him in the top ten of all time either, top 30 for sure though, and yet I can perfectly understand why someone would put him in his top ten.

The actual answer is that he was a Meltzer source so in turn Meltzer overrated the shit out of him. WWE doesn't really push him that much, he's Sgt. Slaughter tier and more relevant as Charlottes dad and Triple Hs lackey in the WWE view.

Considering how boring and overly long his matches were in his "prime", the modern fans actually also overrate him. Good promo though.

Coming through with the blazing hot yet truthful take: If you've worked 20-30 years of matches without getting injured ONCE, it's because you've never done anything interesting in them. Google "wrestlers who've never been injured" and it's a who's who of boring shitters. Jericho has been phoning it in for the last 2 decades at the very least. Simply being there for a long time without a break is not an accomplishment by itself.

In-ring talent was tremendous, even if he ran very similar matches. Look at his in-ring work compared to some of his contemporaries. His in-ring work was great. His ring psychology was second to none.

The main issue with him is he just doesn't have the draw power like Hogan and Austin and the like. He was a draw, but not like them on such a massive scale. But if we're talking about things that actually matter like charisma in ring work, etc. he really is in the greatest conversation.

I personally think Hogan is the greatest for what it's worth. Hogan Austin Cena Flair Bret Hart would probably be my top 5 in some order.
