I legitimately do not know why NJPW has been the dominant number one wrestling promotion in Japan. I get why WWE is tops here but I don't get how NJPW is the biggest there. I mean like 1972-2012. I get it since then.
But looking at the NJPW Tokyo Dome shows and holy shit! Hashimoto was a draw, Tenryu was a draw, Riki Choshu was a draw, Takada was a draw, Kensuke Sasaki was a draw, but Nagata was never a draw. Chono isn't even much of a draw. Takayama was a draw briefly. Muto was a draw but not like Choshu and Hashimoto. Fujinami is a classic case of the guy who works with the guy that makes the money. Inokism was a huge mistake that they never fully recover from which is ironic because weren't the UWF-i guys supposed to be shoot fighters? They drew huge. By the time guys like Tenzan and Kojima are in the main event, they're only filling up a third of the house. Hell, the last Dome show with an even respectable number was Okada vs Naito and the wrong guy won which killed the crowd for the years to come. And even then, it wasn't even 40k tickets sold.
