>>10510033Wrestling is dead and done, and won't ever be good again. This webm was the last straw for me. I need to autistically vent this out for my own sanity:
In this webm, we see Aubrey push down the other woman, lift her leg and set her up for a Figure 4. She taunts and succesfully does the move without the opponent trying to resist at all. No trying to kick away or escape or anything.
Historically, we know that Figure 4 os Ric Flair's move. It's one of the most recognized moves in the world and despite not being protected it is significant as a finisher. How did Flair make his move work and believable and kayfabe? Well Ric Flair was, as we know, known for having a beastly stamina and had long matches where the opponent would gradually be worn down. He had to make the opponent fatigued enough to struggling to resist against the Figure 4. This is also how he would make the opponent over when the opponent, like a true face, would resist and with his last ounce of strength try to reach the rope or flip and reverse the hold. It was all belieavable because Figure 4 only works as a finisher in long matches. This is what differentiates it from a quick Boston Crab or an armbar.
So, let's return to this webm.
Step 1: Aubrey gets tagged in
Step 2: Aubrey pushes down Karen
Step 3: She goes straight for the Figure 4 for some cheap pop
In this instance Figure 4 is used in the same way Marvel/DC use references and cameos. It's not used as a kayfabe wrestling move. It's like how when you were 10 years old and play fought with your friend or brother and used it trying to imitate what you saw on TV. Figure 4 is a soulless husk, used with no meaning, no rhyme no reason. Just a husk.
This is the highest form of insult to pro wrestling. It's repulsive and way mpre disrespectful than an average joe calling it fake. This is ridiculing and dancing on pro wrestling's grave. It's wrong on so many levels.
