What was the point of keeping Roman as the singles world champion if all his subsequent feuds would be tag team matches occurring within a storyline that does not require him to be the top champion?

You could have had him lose the belts to Cody at Mania and still followed up with this Bloodline dissolution. Actually, it would have made significantly more sense had he lost the belts. This feud still works just fine with no one having gold.
