None of these progressives would have a problem excluding cis men from using women's bathrooms or competing in their sports or any myriad of other activities. So they are okay with discrimination, which is fine. The underlying issue is that they want to treat trans women as women, and that's the disconnect. But saying "trans rights" or "LGBT rights" is a lot pithier and doesn't challenge their presuppositions.
