After gay marriage passed, the movement lost all legitimate reason to exist. The people who are trying to keep it alive are bad guys across the board: Grifters who want to sell fear mongering propaganda and/or receive special treatment in selection processes, tyrants who are using "fighting hate" as a smokescreen to attack actual civil rights like freedom of speech and free markets, Karens who've found an opportunity to be special and get on their soap boxes without even having to pretend like they're humble and have a coherent moral code (an eternal thorn in the side of Bible thumping Karens), perverts (including pedophiles, some of which are in the school system or other jobs that put them around children; bigger and more expensive scandal than the Catholic church's by a long shot) who've found a convenient shield, etc. Becoming normalized, losing their victim status, and being held to the same standards as everyone else is the last thing in the world that they want.
