I agree, that it was very boring then, during the modern period, compared to now. Luckily we live in an age when access to almost anything is available to almost anyone, at least within the developed world. Of course we still have a wealth divide and people born into wealth have a distinct advantage in life, but it was always that way so it's not worse than before.
It's also great that we live in an age when people are able to freely express themselves without fear of being attacked, for the most part. Sure we have mentally deranged schizos still, but you guys will all die out because no one will ever have sex with you so society will improve in the end.
