wrestling has a lot of similarities to hip hop and other crafts. There was this one guy in the “rap fed” called canibus. he could say creative things, had crazy rhyme schemes, and a mad flow. but he’s a perpetual undercarder mostly known for losing his main event feud to long time champ LL Cool J. another guy, eminem comes along, with similar skills to Canibus and he becomes top guy of all time, arguably the Austin of hip hop. it was because em wasn’t just a good rapper but could write songs about varied topics besides “i’m so dope on the mic” unlike canibus. that’s a gross broadening of the topic but still:

The same goes with Wrestling in a way, Guys can do all this flippy shit, but can’t do more important shit, but we love RVD who made it look good, and was strong.

point is you got to be able to mix the fundamentals and the flash, you got substance, but your substance ain’t got. i style. find a way to hook ‘em with the canned phrases or the memes, then hit em with the legit discussion and OC

You're right but for the wrong reason. Both fanbases mainly consist of low iq people. Hence why you see many wrestlers 'go off' on fans. Some of it is heat, but a lot of it is a shoot. There's a very good reason why meltzer says calling people marks is the equivalent of the n word, it is the same sentiment. Then came the term smart mark, which lost its meaning as soon as it entered the filter.

thing is, Canibus wasn’t that great at song writing but had bars, just like a lot of battle rappers, so people where surprised that he couldn’t go of the dome or memorize his lyrics in this situation, so the equivalent is probably the moment a supposedly tough wrestler got whooped in a shoot, maybe Seth failing to handle that fan (but that fan blindsided him) i think corny mentioned heels getting their shit rocked for living the gimmick. meybe Shawn getting fucked up by that marine?
