I think what they're saying is they hand-animated every NEW move in the game, with some leftovers from the 2K/THQ days. It is a pretty dishonest line but I can't fault them too much as most of the new move animations look good (except the run lmao)

I agree, it looks pretty disjointed in footage too being in there with the leftover mocap stuff. If it turns out all the 2K leftovers are replaced by the time it's out I'll give it to them but I'd doubt it.

Didn’t they say they weren’t going the WWE route and releasing a new game every year, and instead were just going to have DLC expansions? If they really have such a great relationship with New Japan, why wouldn’t they just say they’re going to add them in later? I can’t imagine New Japan is still bound by whatever deal they made with the makers of Fire Pro.

Almost every animation is from 2k, all the CAW entrance options are from old WWE games. It also doesn't take 4 years to animate moves. The guy is telling lies or Yukes tricked him.

They said that if the game's successful it would be a possibility in the future, but for now they're just focusing on AEW people.

Seems like the stuff that is hand animated is everything not in previous WWE games like tagteam manouevers and some stuff the Lucha Bros have. The advantage of hand animation is being able to stylize it, and those moves do seem different, but it could just be my mind playing tricks on me, because it's not like mocap stuff is bad, since they are done by real wrestlers anyways.

There are 17 hairstyles for men; 12 for women created wrestlers
There is no face morphing, you are given eight face types to choose from for men. Four for women.
For body, you can set your height, fat, muscle, and weight.
There are 57 different bottom attires for male CAWs
CAW Attire options:
Upper Body: Left Arm, Right Arm, Left Wrist, Right Wrist, Accessory, Scars
Lower Body: Bottom, Left Knee, Right Knee, Footwear

Mocap stuff is a mixed bag because real wrestlers on crash mats can't always match other wrestlers style, like SVR06 has the most laughably bad Austin mocap there's ever been. Fine tuning stuff by hand will always be superior as you can get every little quirk, accuracy and bit of impact in there. The crossrhodes in FF for instance is obviously based off the one Cody gave to Kenny in their IWGP title match, and No Mercy did this sort of thing too where most finishers are based on a specific instance like a People's Elbow Rock gave Shamrock. They look goofy sandwiched inbetween old 2K shit but it's one of the things I have to give Yukes, the new sigs and finishers look good.

Bafflingly both MDickie and Yukes have been making their wrestling games 20+ years but only MDickie's actually built on his prior work. Aside from some reused animations Yukes barely have anything from all the years and years they spent making wrestling vidya and fuck knows why. Like how do they not have proper ladder match code to use? They added that shit in like Smackdown 2.
