The history of Jim Cornette as a booker/promoter
>WCW 1990: Jim Herd hated all his ideas and rejected them, he wanted to kick Cornette off the booking team and before he could do so, Cornette quit. This one wasn't actually his fault, Jim Herd was pretty shit
>Smoky Mountain Wrestling: Helped birth the very things he hates in wrestling today, such as various gimmick matches, New Jack and Mustafa who would perpetrate an ultra hardcore style that started in SMW, and Chris Jericho who he isn't fond of today, as well as utilizing various smaller guys who would do all sorts of flips, paving way for the vanilla midgets of today. He also gave Sunny and Candido their break, which would send them both down a path of ruin, and introduced Sunny to the world, who would become an embarrassment to wrestling. He has admitted to various rookie mistakes during this time, such as the New Jack angle with drew "the wrong amount of heat" and was in bad taste. Smoky Mountain wrestling wouldn't even last beyond 5 years and closed in 1995.
>WWF booking team 1997 and 1998: Actively tried to stall and fight against the Attitude era which would be what saved the WWF, allow it to win the Monday Night Wars and allow it to reach another boom period. He instead wanted to bring in a bunch of NWA "legends" and do various NWA invasion angles and use Terry Funk etc. ideas were routinely shot down, or outright mocked by Russo which caused him to seethe against him. Was eventually sent to book and train at OVW, their first big developmental territory, as a way to get rid of him without him being fired.
>OVW: His class at the time had the likes of: John Cena, Randy Orton, Batista, Shelton Benjamin and Brock Lesnar. He instead pushed the following on his shows as he thought they'd be the next main event of WWE, huge stars: Doug Basham of the Basham Brothers (who he thought would be the next TOP guy), Nick Dinsmore, Lance Cade and Orlando Jordan. Was eventually fired for slapping Santino Marella
