By letting White build himself up, Tony gave him room to breathe and hype to build on the internet. They are about to go on a massive run. He's going to have promos on Collision and will likely have a feud with Punk and Ricky in the future. It's going to be great. Unironically great booking by Tony.

By starting BCG, Juice Robinson is now arguably the most over personality in AEW and with the gunns joining they are now the best faction in AEWs history.
The alternative would have been just throwing Jay White against random talent. He still would have looked great, but having a faction (that's actually legitimate and a threat) is even better.
