Cody was always a WWE guy. He felt so out of place in NJPW and he never had a single good match there. He parasitically attached himself to the Bullet Club/The Elite.
The second AEW formed, he checked out. He likes being a “company guy.” I don’t enjoy WWE at all, but Cody the character and Cody the man about fit much better there. I think all parties involved are better off this way. His entire AEW run was poisoned outside of the TNT title run.
I don’t miss him in AEW (I especially do not miss Brandi), and I enjoy him in WWE.
