Doom 2016 was review embargoed and was a banger, it just depends on what the company policy is on reviews.

Bethesda historically does it until day of release, as do others. It's to preserve pre-orders, probably.

Anons in these threads seem to be getting really confused over what this is...Stadium Stampede isn't selectable in any of the copies people have right now. It's dummied out in the code and these are screenshots of its current state when restored, so yes, it is alpha. It's going to be added in an update/DLC I'm sure but I doubt it'll be day one.

No they're not because they deny reality on a daily basis. This is a group of fans that tries to argue that a number going down is somehow actually a good sign. A fanbase that pretends it understands or needs to understands statistics to validate a show that is obviously a niche that few people watch. They are going to do the same shit with this game. They'll argue it is actually really good and bucks convention and that the media dont understand it. Or that it isn't made for "gamers' so much as "AEW fans", the sort ironic hyperbole they cocoon themselves in.

Because they don't think anything through, or take the time to do it correctly. It's people all cospplaying at shit and thinking it can be easily done or replicated because they've been a fan of it and watched it for awhile. Imagine hiring a contractor that told you they didn't have any proper schooling, or experience in construction but they had watched 20 years worth of HGTV and totally understood what the jobs called for. For testing purposes, because any online game would want to have an idea of what max server traffic would look like before rolling out the mode, so it doesnt crash on delivery. Literal indie games do this and just offer people invites to a test.

No but you can simulate it by creating a control test with a pre-determined number of entrants that represents an approximation of what you believe the upper levels of what your release window customers will be and see what the stress does alongside servers that haven't been optimized yet. That is what a test is. The test is for the "public servers". The info they get back from stress tests is how they prepare them.

The funny thing is Zelda's turn around is literally Zleda: Elder Scrolls edition, but you hear these journos wax poetic how much the series has moved forward. Everytime a Japanese company copies western design it is "progressive". When an American tries it, its called appropriation or "trying to be something they dont understand". Look at FF16. Yeap "pro reviews" as in publications and not the reviews of the tranny army. The irony here is Omega and AEW have actively courted the "pro reviews". They wanted to get the game in their hands. The embargo came after they spoke off the record with enough of them to know what the reviews were going to be like.

No I totally do. Because they didn't have a single public server test whether it was closed or open. Not even through pre-orders and not within in any time frame that would allow for optimization from the info collected. You can't simulate that in house, for obvious reasons. So no testing through some sort of sign up plan or invite etc means no testing at all.
