I've been to both AEW and WWE shows this year. Both in the same general area and both in the same type of arena.
WWE had around 3,000 people. An insane amount of elementary school age children. Lots of families, Mom's who brought their kids and were looking bored, stuff like that. Star power was much better for the WWE show; Cody, Seth, Becko, KO, Usos, and more. They had a fucking massive merch section. A few neckbeards, and a few trannies. Show was alright but felt paint by the numbers, crowd was hot for every match.
AEW had around 2,000 with significantly less star power. No one on the level of any of the guys listed for WWE. Their merch table was the drizzling shits, only a few tables stuck together with a few shirt designs. Crowd was mostly 20-30 year old men and women. There was some kids but not nearly as many as WWE. A lot more neckbeards, but again, only a few literal trannies. Show was surprisingly good, they had real matches and put in real effort. Crowd was fucking insane. They even cheered for the ring announcer and referees.
My conclusion is that WWE is a well oiled efficient machine and AEW is good and has a strong hardcore fanbase but they need to clean up some of their sloppy shop tier issues. They're targeting basically completely different types of people so its sort of stupid to console war them.
