>>10663539>Like a tag team hugging their manager with a tennis racket in the corner in the middle of a fight?Sounds like simple character work. Far less forced than most bucks shit which is B&G era level of "lets look at the camera and force the story down their throats to make sure they don't miss it".
>But it obviously had a story: the smaller more agile wrestler was able to overwhelm the champion for the majority of the match. That's a dynamic, not a story.
>Yeah, it's literally athletics not literature. Who the fuck taught you it was anything else?Athletics is fine, but the point of pro wrestling is to contextualize it in the rhythm of a fight. This doesn't mean to make it look real, as it never will look "real", and if it did, it would be boring. It's to not make it look exceedingly choreographed and fake.
People like cole, gargano, the bucks, LB, are awful pro wrestlers on the basis that they're unable to have a match wherein they creatively guise the cooperation therein. These matches that do this are not good, it's fundamentally flawed and bad.
>Creators are notoriously bad judges of their own work. And Benoit couldn't even remember his match with Sasuke when interviewers asked him about it. Must have been forgettableNigga riddled with CTE probably not the best example. Regardless, I'll take a "notoriously bad judge" over one who outright doesn't understand pro wrestling on it's base.
