>>10684346>For my money NJPW has the best productionI don't even watch NJPW (although I did watch it for the big matches and WKs while it was booming in the mid 10s) and I agree. It manages to have WWE's cleanliness but without losing its soul and grit. When I watch NJPW I feel like I'm watching a huge international sporting event from the 80s or 90s, it's hard to describe the atmosphere but it's great, reminds me of WCW almost, or some sort of fantasy/sci-fi fighting tournament, like Tekken or something. Watching WWE, at least production-wise, feels like you're watching American Idol or some other kind of bland corporate shlock.
Another show with production I really liked was Lucha Underground. They really went hard with the underground theme, it was the perfect way to present a show with a smaller fanbase, reminded me of ECW.
AEW gets this all wrong and tries to present itself as a mainstream wrestling show like WWE, and I just can't buy it with the smaller fanbase and recognition. It comes across as the same kind of shlock WWE produces but on a smaller budget in front of fewer people and it just doesn't work.
