>>10686893I worked on a tv show once where there was a wrestling episode. No famous wrestlers were casted, just a bunch of stunt guys and jobbers. Anyway, I showed up early that day where they set up the ring and played around in it. I figured I've seen enough wrestling and wrestling training videos via youtube or Tough Enough so I could try the basics. I tried running the ropes first, it was pretty easy to get the rhythm after a few tries and the cables didn't hurt as much as I've read. Next I tried doing a flat back bump, but I did it slow and simple but I either couldn't get the form right or it just hurts every time. Instead of taking time perfecting it the slow way, I said fuck it, I'll try a bump as fast and hard as Triple H did in that video. So I exploded down to the mat and my head hit so fucking hard I didn't try it again. I had time to try one more thing, might as well be an elbow drop off the top rope. I did my best Shawn Michaels elbow and landed hip first so hard that I limped for the rest of the day.
Long story short, the mat doesn't really have a lot of give and taking bumps actually hurts. No wonder half of the old timers have fake hips, knee implants, and CTE.
