These are not quite dark matches, because they are recorded. It has been mentioned that these are the opening acts to the two main shows, Raw and Smackdown. The old way was a 3-4 hour wrestling show was recorded live, then cut up into different shows to air in multiple markets several times per week. 1 show could yield four weeks of programming. Main Event, as mentioned, is what you would see before Raw goes live. It is explained if you went to a live Raw event.
