Most people never actually read any of his matches, they just pick their favourite dirtsheet and blindly follow what they tell them are the 5 star passages. So they didn't recognise the gimmick because it didn't involve any of the epic Matmaker matches.

It was a midcard gimmick where he was feuding with midcarders all the time. Let me put it this way, his biggest match during all of this was fucking with Cesaro in 2021. That's how MIDCARD it was. Doesn't help that AoP are made of glass.

I actually feel bad for Seth in a weird way. This man more than any other champion they've had the last 10 years really gets stuck with the worst fucking gimmicks, feuds, match stipulations of any main event booking. Whenever I think of him I always think of the dumbass silly moments like HIAC, Seth Rollins Is Not Cool, and Rey's eye popping out. It's tainted my image of him in a weird way. Hell when he was Universal Champion his primary feuds outside of Brock were Baron Corbin and Bray Wyatt.
