Andy loved being a star, he loved comedy, and he loved more than anything else working the shit out of people irl. It was only natural that he'd gravitate towards wrestling. Without his start in Hollywood he could've had a great career as a wrestling manager.

Nah, the internet has had a massive diffusive effect on fame.

It's impossible to be as famous as celebrities in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, because people have too many options now. People watch too many different things.

I actually agree with this. Even though, I am part spic and Bad Bunny is immensely famous, I don't think it's the same as someone back then.

Mania got sold off Mr. T and Hogan, I don't think they could do that today. Even Backlash, would've sold out PR regardless because they barely go there. Dwayne is technically the only actor I can see adding to a show.

People try to understand Andy through some modern lense and think he was just a shit disturber yid but if you read into him, in the counter culture era of the 60s he was listening to fucking Elvis. He genuinely liked wrestling and Lawler was so pissed off with Jim Carey for being an annoying prick in his name when Andy was humble and respected the business around him.

He was a legend who lived the gimmick. He was already famous before Taxi as a comedian. He would only do the show if they also hired his gimmick Tony Clifton. Clifton terrorized people on set, showed up late, and verbally abused people until he got fired. Tony Clifton was fired. Andy Kaufman wasn't.
