Kelly's strong suit isn't calling stuff live and giving play by play. He's usually good in NJPW where he knows everyone and pays attention to stories. He's a good narrator for story beats during a match. I think he'll probably get better as he goes on and becomes more familiar with the stories on the show

Kevin Kelly does that really obnoxious Don West thing where he has to BE REALLY LOUD and have an aneurysm over really tame spots although Kelly does not have the charm that West did and his voice 10x more annoying.
