At the risk of derailing the thread, how come boomer fucks like Jim Ross and Jim Cornette always put over Vader, Hansen and Steve Williams even though all their best work was in Japan and they never watched Japanese wrestling?

Cornette has talked about watching Japanese tapes back in the day, and Ross was probably an scouter for WWF and WCW (I doubt WCW brought in Vader and pushed him to the moon just because)
That said, Vader, Hansen and (to a lesser extent) Dr. Death, had good runs in the states

Vader's matches with NJPW's stars like Inoki, Choshu, Fujinami, Chono, Hashimoto and Muto were all fun. Inoki made a star in 1987. His debut did cost him and his company a bit for a period of time but the controversy created lots of hype, money and many great matches in the long run.

I spent my entire evening yesterday watching Tales from the territories, stumbled upon the first episode and ended up watching almost the whole thing, this was really good.
Really enjoyed the narration alternating between classic documentary and guys shooting the shit around a table, neat editing, really cool stories and some pretty good emotional moments,
never imagined I'd see Abdullah the Butcher tearing up with Bret Hart talking about the wrestling life.

Sting's matches are interesting because supposedly he's the one who had to teach Vader to be less Japan-stiff. He probably had to take a lot of potatoes every time.
